How to Choose the Right Coffee for Your Brewing Method
The right roast level depends on how you brew.
Here's a quick guide:
• Drip coffee makers and pour-over: Medium roast blends like Rogue Traveler and Twin Roads Blend deliver balanced body and clean tasting notes. Single origins from Ethiopia, Kenya, and Honduras shine here.
• French press: Medium-dark and dark roasts hold up to the longer extraction. Try Italian Roast, French Roast, or Whiskey Trail
Reserve.
• Espresso machines: Reach for African Espresso, Crossroads Espresso, or Italian Roast, for classic crema-rich shots.
•  Cold brew: Coarse-ground Backroad Cold Brew is purpose-built for 12-hour cold extraction with low acidity and chocolate-toffee notes.
•  Single-cup brewers (K-Cup compatible): Browse our specialty-grade single-use pods for Bali Blue, Peru, Mexico, and decaf options that taste nothing like supermarket pods.
Specialty Grade — What That Actually Means
'Specialty grade' isn't marketing language. It's a quality classification from the Specialty Coffee Association reserved for green coffee that scores 80+ points out of 100 in cupping evaluations. Coffees in this collection meet or exceed that standard, which means cleaner cups, more developed flavor profiles, and traceable origins. We source directly from small farms across Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala, Peru, Mexico, Honduras, Kenya, and Indonesia, every bag tells you exactly where the beans came from and how they were processed.
Roasted to Order, Shipped Within 24 Hours
Coffee is freshest in the first 2-4 weeks after roasting. Most grocery store coffee is 6-12 months old by the time you brew it. Every bag in our shop is roasted after you order and shipped the next business day, so you're brewing coffee at peak flavor the way roasters and baristas drink it themselves. For the freshest possible cup, store your beans in an airtight container away from light and heat, and brew within 30 days of the roast date printed on the bag.
If you drink coffee daily (and let's be honest, you do), our coffee subscription delivers your favorite blends or rotating single origins on a schedule that fits your routine — weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Subscribers save on every order and get early access to limited-release roasts. Cancel, pause, or swap blends anytime.
